SEO is vital this era! But is it scientific or artistic?

In this era of living with technology, searching for anything on the internet is a norm, especially on search engines like Google that grant online users to gain the information they are searching for through keywords.

A typical human being is deduced to carry out approximately 4 Google searches daily which converts to a total of 5.6 billion searches every day.

Majority of businesses find Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to be vital.

Why is that so?

SEO is the operation of businesses enhancing their website to heighten its visibility to users that are searching for goods associated with the business on search engines.

It is free and an organic form of Search Engine Marketing, making it a popular choice.

A study shows that many people click on the first organic result shown in Google Search with an approximately 28.5% click-through-rate instead of scrolling down further.

Thus, by focusing on SEO, a business may do even better because when the viewability is elevated to be the top results shown, the more seemingly the business garners attention and entices customers to click and possibly purchase.

But, businesses should be careful to exploit SEO by incorporating BLACK HAT TECHNIQUES as it is unethical and rarely functions. Hence, I recommend businesses to stick to WHITE HAT SEO, which you can differentiate from the picture below:

Hence, is SEO scientific or artistic?

According to Biznology.com, it is arguable that SEO is a science due to the fact that it runs as per mathematical principles, which are statistically authentic and prognostic of human behaviour.

There are statistics showing that 91.5% of users visit the link shown on the first page of search results and never visit the next page, which can be deduced that most humans behave like that and very likely will do too, ultimately.

Yet, it is also arguable that SEO is an art considering how mathematical principles don’t determine the goals of an establishment. Instead the business determines their goals whilst creating valuable content and learning on why their customers purchase their goods, making it an art. Additionally, algorithms can be said to be illogical to model based on human behaviour.

In my opinion, I believe that SEO is both a science and an art, but it is more artistic.

Owing to the fact that websites don’t write for themselves, businesses do so with their marketing proficiency and creativity to construct interesting content that can raise the search rank and gain more attention.

Therefore, after reading this post, do you also think that SEO is vital for businesses? Also, is SEO scientific or artistic? Do share your thoughts in the comment box below!

  1. Thanks for giving us an excellent article about SEO! It’s a really instructive and analytic post. I like the way you explain each point first and then articulate your ideas. It makes the reader more clear about what the topic is and can have a connection with you.

For this topic, I think can add some successful SEO examples makes readers more understanding of how it is put into practice. Also, I am curious about what you think about the future of SEO since it is more strict on content and more ad-related. Will think it will affect both business and customers? I’d be interested in hearing your idea on this!

As for your question, I think SEO is vital for businesses since customers always do the search o Google before purchasing. However, as for SEO itself, I think it is more science because it is based on technology to do further action. And for the art aspect, I think the marketing strategies like SEM and content we created are more like an art form.

Overall, this is a fantastic blog! Keep it up! I look forward to seeing more of your post!!!

    1. Hi Claire, it’s nice to see you again and thank you so much for giving me another feedback! I really appreciate it!

It’s indeed a shame I didn’t add any successful SEO examples, but for my future posts if it relates to the topic, I will add more examples! As for the future of SEO, my thoughts are that since the market will be more competitive, businesses need to come up with more creative content or pay for PPC. Thus this will affect businesses more as to come up in the top search rank, they may need to pay for it in the future.

Once again, thank you for stopping by, I will keep your feedback in mind and improve! I hope to see you again in my upcoming posts!!

    1. Hey Kaiwen! It’s nice to see you again and thank you for leaving me another comment!

To make you less curious, businesses that implement black hat SEO may get their website banned to appear on the search engines or will never appear on the first spot of the search rank. In my opinion, some businesses may still utilize black hat techniques either because their business is a short-term one or they just utilized it by accident and didn’t know how to switch back!

Thank you again for visiting and leaving such a nice comment! I will cherish it!
